Here at we are very aware of the risk of falls, particularly amongst older people. Age UK is hosting Falls Awareness Week 18-22nd June.

Falls represent a serious problem for older people; they occur in around 30% of over 65s and 50% of those aged over 80 every year, often resulting in serious consequences, both physically and psychologically. In addition to bruising, fractures, and in some cases, death, a fall can destroy confidence, increase isolation and reduce independence.

To promote the services and interventions that can help older people to reduce their risk of falls and challenge the common perception that falling is an inevitable part of ageing, Age UK hosts Falls Awareness Week every year in June.

Professionals who work, or come in to contact, with older people are invited to take part and host an event or activity. Find out more at
